Gerhard Roiss (born April 2, 1952 in Linz ) is a former CEO of the Austrian mineral oil company OMV .

Life

Roiss completed his business education in Vienna , Linz and Stanford (United States).

In 1990 he took over the management of OMV Marketing. In the same year he was appointed to the board of directors of PCD Polymers GmbH. In 1997 he moved to the board of directors of the OMV Group , where he was responsible for the plastics and chemicals sectors. In 2000 he also took on responsibility for exploration and production. From January 1, 2002 to March 31, 2011, he was Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and was responsible for Refining & Marketing. On April 1, 2011, he became CEO of OMV Aktiengesellschaft, succeeding Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer . Gerhard Roiss left this position on June 30, 2015. He was succeeded by Rainer Seele as CEO of OMV . In April 2015 Roiss became a member of the board of directors of the Swiss industrial group Sulzer , and in April 2017 he took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board of Verbund AG . He will resign at the end of April 2019.

From June 11th to 14th, 2015 he took part in the 63rd Bilderberg Conference in Telfs- Buchen in Austria .

From 2018 to 2023 he is a member of the University Council of the University of Linz .

Roiss is married and has three children.
