Gerhard von dem Busch (born September 22, 1791 in Bremen ; † September 19, 1868 there ) was a German doctor, specialist translator and malacologist .

Life

Gerhard von dem Busch was the son of a Bremen lawyer and grandson of the Bremen mayor of the same name. He studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg and Göttingen . During his studies he became a member of Guestphalia I Heidelberg in Heidelberg and in Göttingen he joined the Corps Bremensia . He achieved lasting importance through his numerous translations of scientific works by physicians Christopher R. Pemberton , John Abercrombie , Magnus Huss and others. In old age he turned to conchology . His important scientific collection of clauses from all over the world is now in the University of Bremen .
