Gerhardt Giese

Gerhardt Wilhelm Karl Giese (born February 26, 1901 in Berlin ; † March 21, 1969 there ) was a German educationalist .

Giese was the son of a Berlin elementary school and trade teacher and attended the Berlin-Kreuzberg Friedrichs-Realgymnasium from 1910 to 1918 . He studied in Berlin. The student Eduard Spranger received his doctorate in 1924 with a thesis on: Hegel's conception of the state and the idea of ​​state education. He was appointed to the Rostock Pedagogical Institute in 1930. Then he was Spranger's assistant from 1932 to 1934. Since 1934 he taught as a lecturer at the Elbing College for Teacher Training , and since 1939 as a professor. In 1937 he became a member of the NSDAP . He was teaching at the Herder Institute in Riga . In 1941 he was appointed head of the Teacher Training Institute (LBA) in Schmückert (Wartheland) and 1942 director of the LBA in Lissa . In 1942 he was arrested and removed from office by the Gestapo for refusing to leave the church.

From 1946 to 1953 he worked for the West Berlin Council of Churches and in the Chamber for Education and Teaching, from 1953 to 1960 head of the school chancellery of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg and deputy head of the Chamber for Education and Teaching. He taught as a professor at the Church University in Berlin. He was centrally involved in the entire school discussion.
