Gerhardus Anselmus van Kleef

Gerhardus Anselmus van Kleef (born July 19, 1922 in Meßkirch ; † September 26, 1995 in Huis ter Heide ) was the 15th Old Catholic Bishop of Haarlem from 1967 to 1987 .

Life

He was born as the son of the respected Old Catholic theologian Bastiaan Abraham van Kleef and his wife Maria Catharina Hendrika née Spit in Meßkirch, where his father worked since 1919. After his theological training he received in the January 13, 1946 Cathedral St. Gertrudis to Utrecht the priesthood . From 1951 to 1953 he worked as a pastor in Schoonhoven , from 1953 to 1967 he was pastor at the Paradijskerk in Rotterdam .

On September 5, 1967, he was elected Bishop of Haarlem and received on 28 October 1967 in Egmond aan Zee, the episcopal ordination . With Theodorus Henricus Johannes Zwartkruis, a Roman Catholic bishop was officially present for the first time at an Old Catholic episcopal ordination. From 1981 to 1987 he was also responsible for the rectory in Enkhuizen (St. Gummarus)

In 1987 he resigned from his episcopate.
