Joseph Ambrosius Geritz
Joseph Ambrosius Geritz (born April 3, 1783 in Seeburg , † August 16, 1867 in Frauenburg ) was a Catholic clergyman and bishop of Warmia .
After studying Catholic theology in Warsaw and at the Lyceum Hosianum in Braunsberg received Geritz on 9 March 1806, the diaconate and on April 5, 1806 Mrs. Burger Cathedral , the ordination . He stayed there as cathedral vicar and became cathedral capitular in 1823 and cathedral dean in 1835 .
On April 27, 1840, Pope Gregory XVI appointed him . as titular bishop of Abdera and auxiliary bishop in Warmia. On August 23, 1840, Bishop Andreas Stanislaus von Hatten (Hattynski) donated him the episcopal ordination , co- consecrator was Auxiliary Bishop Franz Großmann . From his appointment on June 21, 1841 until his death on August 16, 1867 he was Bishop of Warmia with his seat in Frombork.
From June 27 to November 2, 1848, he was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly in St. Paul's Church as a member of the Marienburg district .
