Gero P. Weishaupt

Gero P. Weishaupt (* 20th century in Aachen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and canon lawyer .

Life

Weishaupt studied philosophy and theology from 1982 to 1988 at the University of Bonn and in the Rolduc diocesan seminary of the Roermond diocese in Kerkrade . He was ordained a deacon in 1988 and incardinated in the Diocese of Roermond. After his ordination in 1989 he was active in various parishes (as parish vicar [ chaplain ], administrator, subsidiary). In 1988 he was appointed patronus (lawyer) at the diocesan ecclesiastical court of the diocese of Roermond.

From 1994 to 1996 he completed a degree in canon law at the Canon Institute of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster and completed a licensed thesis with Klaus Lüdicke . On October 1, 1996, he was appointed diocesan judge at the Office of the Diocese of Roermond. From 2001 to 2006 he completed a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . There he received his doctorate in canon law on May 10, 2006 based on a dissertation supervised by Gianpaolo Montini . From 2004 to 2006 he worked in the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Goods of the Church and as private secretary of the then President of this commission, Mauro Piacenza . Since April 2004 he has been a Latinist with Vatican Radio .

On July 1, 2006, Weishaupt was appointed defender of marriage and church attorney at the official office of the diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch . Since September 2006 he has been a lecturer in canon law at the Episcopal Seminary of the Diocese of Roermond. From July 1, 2008 to September 1, 2013 he was the official of the Diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch. Since November 1st, 2009 he has been an editor at the Catholic internet portal kathnews . From September 2012 to June 2015 he taught as a lecturer in canon law at the diocesan training center for candidates of the permanent diaconate of the diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch. Since September 1st, 2012 he has been judge of the Interdiocesan Criminal Court of the Dutch ecclesiastical province. Since December 2, 2013 he has been a full-time diocesan judge at the Archbishopric of the Archdiocese of Cologne . Since September 2015 he has been teaching as a lecturer in canon law and ecclesiastical documents at the Theological Institute of the Diocese of Roermond. He is also a lecturer for Latin church texts at the Pontifical College Benedict XVI. in Heiligenkreuz near Vienna .
