Kerstin Haberecht (* 1988 in Karlsruhe ) is a German jazz musician ( alto saxophone , also vocals, composition).

Live and act

Haberecht grew up largely in the southern Palatinate; at the age of 13 she discovered the possibility of improvisation. Three years later she already gained her first big band experience in the youth jazz orchestra Karlsruhe The Hip Herd , as well as in the state youth jazz orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate, with which she also gave concerts in Brazil and South Africa. Between 2008 and 2015 she studied jazz and popular music at the Mainz University of Music with Steffen Weber , Denis Gäbel and Thomas Bachmann .

Since 2013 she has been leading her own quartet Haberecht4 (with Nicolas Hering, Bastian Weinig and Mathis Grossmann), for which she composes and with whom she released the album Essence on Double Moon Records in 2016 . She has also played with the hr big band , the Mainz Philharmonic, Fräulein Pugh , Lars Reichow , Horacio “El Negro” Hernández , Joe Gallardo , Jiggs Whigham , Sebastian Sternal and Lukas Roos. She performed a. a. at festivals such as the Leverkusener Jazztage , Bingen swingt , Palatia jazz , the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally , the Rheingau Music Festival or the Landesjazzfestival Karlsruhe. In 2013 she also took over the artistic direction of the Frankfurt Youth Jazz Days.
