Gero Storjohann (born February 12, 1958 in Bad Segeberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 and is a member of the Petitions Committee and the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

Since 2018 he has been chairman and spokesman of the CDU / CSU working group on petitions and spokesman for cycling of the CDU / CSU working group on transport. From 2005 to 2017 he was the deputy chairman of the petitions committee of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After graduating from the Dahlmann School in Bad Segeberg in 1978 , Storjohann did his military service as a temporary soldier until 1980 and then completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant until 1982 . He then studied business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Kiel and graduated in 1987 with a degree in business administration . In 1988 he joined the Deutsche Bundespost and worked there from 1989 to 1994 as a clerk in cost controlling .

Gero Storjohann is married and has three sons.

Political party

Storjohann joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1975 and the CDU in 1977 and was chairman of the JU district association in Segeberg from 1982 to 1991 . Since 1989 he has also been deputy chairman of the local CDU district association. Since 1997 he has been the district chairman of the CDU Segeberg without interruption.

Storjohann was a member of the municipal council of Seth from 1987 to 2002 , of the district council of the Segeberg district from 1990 to 1994, and of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein from 1994 until his resignation on October 17, 2002 .

Since 2002 he has been a member of the German Bundestag and a full member of the Petitions Committee and the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure. For the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, he is responsible for bicycle policy and road safety .

Gero Storjohann entered the Bundestag in 2002 via the Schleswig-Holstein state list and since 2005 as a directly elected member of the Segeberg - Stormarn-Nord constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 43.9% of the first votes . In the Bundestag election in 2009 (39.8%) and in the Bundestag election in 2013 (45.4%), he was re-elected directly to the Bundestag. The Bundestag constituency 008 was not changed in 2013, but was renamed Segeberg-Stormarn-Mitte. In the 2017 federal election, Storjohann achieved 41.1% of the first votes. Compared to the SPD candidate, he increased his lead to 26,382 votes, which is 27.3%. received. This makes Gero Storjohann the only member of the Bundestag in the Segeberg / Stormarn-Mitte constituency.

As a member of the Bundestag, he co-founded the “Bicycle Parliamentary Circle” in the Bundestag. This cross-party working group met for the first time on October 10, 2018 in Berlin. Gero Storjohann is the chairman of this new working group.

Public offices

From 1992 to 2002 Storjohann was the first deputy mayor of his hometown Seth. From 2011 to 2015 Storjohann was President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Traffic Watch. From 2013 to 2016 he was one of the eight Vice Presidents of the German Traffic Guard.

Gero Storjohann is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
