Gerold Dieke

Gerold Dieke (born June 22, 1943 in Oldenburg ) is a German politician ( FDP ). He was President of the Darmstadt District for 10 years and was retired on June 30, 2009.

education and profession

After graduating from the commercial high school in Oldenburg in 1962, he studied business administration and law at the Saarland University , Argentina , Paraguay and Costa Rica and the University of Hamburg from 1962 to 1966 . In 1968 he graduated with a degree in business administration.

1968 to 1972 Dieke worked scientifically. Among other things, he spent 1970 to 1971 for a study and research stay in Argentina (financed by the Volkswagen Foundation ) and from 1971 to 1972 at the Institute for Ibero-American Customers, Hamburg for research on development banks in Latin America. Between 1973 and 1976 he was an assistant and lecturer at the Institute for Cooperative Studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and prepared expert reports on behalf of the FAO, the BMZ, various foundations and institutions. From 1977 Dieke worked for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which is close to the FDP , as head of department, then as head of the Latin America department and the policy department. In 1983 he moved to the federal office of the FDP, where he was head of the political department and the office for international relations. From 1987 to 1999 he was managing director of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH, where he was responsible for the business areas Latin America, Maghreb, Middle East, Europe, Caucasian and Central Asian countries, finance and controlling, and auditing.

On July 1, 1999 Dieke was appointed regional president of the Darmstadt administrative district. Even after the CDU had achieved an absolute majority in the state elections in Hesse in 2003, the FDP member remained in this position. After ten years of service, he left his position on June 30, 2009 and went into retirement.

Gerold Dieke is married and has four children. He lives in Kronberg im Taunus .

Honors

In 1998 he received the Order of Merit of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN).
