The Geroldsauer waterfall is an approximately six meter high waterfall of the Grobbach south of the Baden-Baden district of Geroldsau in the northern Black Forest .

The Grobbach rises on the precipitation-rich western slope of the northern Black Forest at about 800  m above sea level. NN height on the Black Forest High Road near Plättig / Bühlerhöhe . It flows northwards and unites in front of the waterfall with the Harzbach, which with its tributaries drains the north-western slope of the Badener Höhe . At the waterfall, the Grobbach has an average water flow of 0.56 m³ / s. He falls here from about 291  m above sea level. NHN down to about 285  m . into a small rock basin. After about a kilometer of flowing, the Kerbtal widens to the wider valley floor of Geroldsau. At the confluence with the Oos in Lichtental , the Grobbach has more water and is longer than the Oos.

The falling step in the Bühlertal granite ( crystalline basement ) formed below a very resistant, silicified rustling zone .

The waterfall is a traditional excursion destination in the vicinity of the tourist city of Baden-Baden. In Geroldsau, a small street branches off the Black Forest High Road with several parking spaces for hikers, which passes the waterfall and the nearby Bütthof restaurant . The waterfall can also be reached via a footpath along the Grobbach.

Large rhododendron bushes grow in the vicinity of the Geroldsau waterfall . They were planted under Walter Rieger, Baden-Baden's horticultural director in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Geroldsauer waterfall is a geological natural monument . The nature conservation authorities classify it as a whole as worthy of protection due to its rarity and assign it to the highest of 4 value classes. It is within the 8,390 hectares of protected landscape Baden-Baden.
