Gerald Ray "Gerry" Chamberlain (* 1941 or 1942 in Refugio , Texas ; † July 21, 2007 ) was an American jazz musician ( trombone , bass trombone ).

Live and act

Chamberlain was a contract soldier with the 82nd Airborne after high school and was stationed as a paratrooper in West Germany for three years . He then studied at North Texas State University with Leon Brown. 1965 emerged with the University of North Texas Neophonic Orchestra , which was directed by Stan Kenton , first recordings; he also played bass trombone with the Fort Worth Symphony . From the late 1960s, Chamberlain toured with bands such as Ten Wheel Drive , the Buddy Rich Big Band and Woody Herman and His Orchestra ( Concerto for Herd , 1967). He then lived in New York City, where he worked as a studio musician from then on. He also played in the field of classical music with the New York Philomusica and was a founding member of the Hora Decima Brass Ensemble ; He was also active as a theater musician in various Broadway shows , such as for many years with Cats . He has participated in recordings by Latin musicians such as Ismael Rivera , Eddie Palmieri , Machito , Chico O'Farrill , Armando Rodriguez / Victor Rendon Latin Jazz Orchestra and Mario Bauzá . In the field of jazz he was involved in 34 recording sessions between 1965 and 1998, in addition to the aforementioned also with George Benson , Michael Zager, Sonny Stitt , Ronnie Foster , Chuck Israels , Eumir Deodato , David Matthews . In his later years he completed courses in Atlantic City as a blackjack game master and worked for several years in the gambling field in Miami Beach.
