Gerryck King

Gerryck King (* around 1960; † October 2011 ) was an American jazz musician ( drums ).

Life

King played in the early 1980s with Jack McDuff , with whom the first recordings were made, as well as with Harold Ashby , Al Gray / Bjarne Nerem , Milt Hinton , Red Holloway , Norman Simmons and Stanley Turrentine . During this time he was a member of the trio of bassist Ray Brown , in which he also participated in recordings of Ernestine Anderson , and was an accompanist for Joe Williams ( In Good Company ). In the 1990s he played in Chicago a. a. with Jodie Christian , Everett Greene , in Los Angeles with Rickey Woodard and Saskia Laroo . In the field of jazz he was involved in 29 recording sessions between 1980 and 2010, most recently in California with Tom Culver and Art Hillery . Most recently he performed in California with his own quartet, which included Chris Foreman (Hammond B3), Red Holloway and Daryl Darden (guitar). King made an appearance in the film The Legend of Teddy Edwards .
