Gert Hartmann

Gert Joachim Hartmann (born May 30, 1935 in Wriezen ; † February 8, 2016 in Herborn ) was a German Protestant theologian and author .

life and work

Born in Brandenburg, he grew up in southern Hesse . Between 1955 and 1959 he studied Protestant theology in Bethel , Tübingen , Heidelberg and Kiel . During his studies he became a member of the liberal Tübingen fraternity Derendingia . After graduating as Dr. theol. In 1963 in Kiel he was pastor in Kiel and mentor for pastor training in Pinneberg. From 1975 he was professor of pastoral care at the Theological Seminary of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau in Herborn. He was director of this training center for future pastors from 1987 to 1999.

His book The Interpretation of Life is still regarded as the standard work in pastoral training for pastors . Theology for Pastoral Care from 1993. After the attacks of September 11th and the war in Afghanistan that followed, he also appeared in 2003 Colored and Painted Black? - Ways to trust God in times of crisis .
