Gert Hofbauer
Gert Hofbauer (born March 13, 1937 in Knittelfeld ; † August 4, 2017 in Marz ) was an Austrian musician and conductor .
Hofbauer studied trumpet in Graz in 1958 and at the University of Music in Vienna in 1960 . He found his first engagements as a trumpeter in 1962 with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and in 1964 with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria , where he played first trumpet. During his orchestral work he studied in 1969 in the conducting class with Richard Oesterreicher .
In 1971 he founded the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra with musicians from all the major orchestral associations in Vienna , which he has directed and conducted ever since.
