Gert Kullamäe (born June 3, 1971 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian basketball coach and former national player who has played basketball professionally in the Baltic States , Germany and the Benelux countries and with his clubs national championships in the former Soviet Union , Estonia , Lithuania , Belgium and the Netherlands won. Since January 2012, Kullamäe is responsible coach of the Estonian Association Tartu Ülikool , since 2010, he is also assistant coach of Tiit Sokk at the Estonian national basketball team.
The 1.96 m tall guard began his career at Kalev Tallinn, the predecessor club of today's BC Kalev / Cramo, and won the last championship in the Soviet Union in his first year as a senior. In the following years, except for 1997, he won the national championships in Estonia and Lithuania with his teams. In 1999 and 2000, however, he was only third and second with Kalev. Kullamäe then moved to Belgium and became champion and cup winner there with BC Telindus. At the end of the season, however, he injured his knee and had to take a break for several months before attempting a comeback at a club in his home country in late 2001. At the beginning of 2002 he was finally signed to the Basketball Bundesliga in Bamberg . In Bamberg he twice reached the final series of the German championship in 2003 and 2004, each of which was lost; thus Germany is the only country in which Kullamäe played where he could not win the national championship. He then moved to the Netherlands for the EiffelTowers, who were still playing in Nijmegen in the 2004/2005 season . In the following season the championship could be won as EiffelTowers Den Bosch. After the championship in 2006 he returned to his home country and played in Tartu , where he was able to win the Estonian championship again in 2007 and 2008.
With the Estonian national basketball team Kullamäe took part in the finals of the European basketball championship in Germany in 1993 and achieved a good sixth place after they had defeated the eventual European champions Germany in the first game of the main round .
