Gert Preiser
Gert Preiser (born February 18, 1928 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German classical philologist and medical historian .
Life
From 1934 he attended elementary school in Tübingen and from 1936 in Rostock , from 1938 the large city school Rostock and from 1940 the high school Carolo-Alexandrinum in Jena , where he passed the school leaving examination in 1946. In the winter semester of 1946 he began studying classical philology and history at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and continued at the University of Heidelberg from the summer semester of 1947 . There he passed the first state examination for academic teaching at grammar school in 1953 , after which he completed his preparatory service as a student trainee at the study seminar in Heidelberg, which he completed in 1955 with the second state examination. As an assessor of the teaching profession he worked at the grammar school in Weinheim in 1955/56 . In 1956 he went to the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel , where he in 1957 with one of Hans Diller supervised dissertation Corpus Hippocraticum Dr. phil. received his doctorate.
From 1957 to 1962 he was editor of the Hippocrates Lexicon at the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae at the University of Hamburg . Then he was Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Department of Classical Philology , where he became in 1965 teacher was appointed.
In 1966 he became an academic advisor at the Senckenberg Institute for the History of Medicine at the Goethe University. In January 1969 he qualified as a professor at the Medical Faculty for the subject “History of Medicine with Special Consideration of Ancient Medicine”, and in the same year he was appointed Academic Senior Councilor. From 1971 he worked as a professor for this subject, from 1974 as managing director of the Senckenberg Institute for the History of Medicine. In 1993 he was retired.
In 1970 he was a member of the academic senate , from 1971 to 1973 the first elected vice-president of Goethe University and as such chairman of the academic senate and chairman of the library committee. At the same time he was an honorary member of the culture committee of the city of Frankfurt.
From 1973 to 1985 he was the chairman of the Hessen State Association of the German University Association .
