Gert Trauernicht (* 1965 in Aurich ) is a German industrial designer and university professor at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Life

Trauernicht initially studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1985 to 1986 , followed by industrial design studies at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig from 1986 to 1992 . In 1990 he founded the design agency Yo creative answers. In 1996 he was a visiting professor for industrial design at IGSID (postgraduate program) in Seoul , South Korea . In the same year he worked as a design consultant in Seoul at the invitation of the Korean Institute of Industrial Design and Packaging (KIDP). At that time he was developing industrial design projects for medium-sized Korean industries. In 1997 he became Principal and Director of Industrial Design at Design Continuum in Boston, USA and headed the Industrial Design group.

Since 1999 he has been Professor of Industrial Design at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . In 2001, together with Martin Topel Visionlabs at the University of Wuppertal, he founded a project platform for visionary product development with industrial partners. In 2002 the agency Squareone GmbH was founded in Düsseldorf (together with Martin Topel).

Trauernicht worked for Sony Europe, Volkswagen , Minox , WMF , Rosenthal , Leonardo , Robbe & Berking , Mono, Carl Mertens , Bose , Texas Instruments , Ingersoll Rand , Polaroid , BMW and many more.

He has received several awards for his work, including several iF Design Awards and the red dot design award .

In early June 2013, Trauernicht led a workshop on "Transport Service Innovation" at the private Shih Chien University in Taiwan .
