Gert Zeising

Gert Otto Zeising (* 1936 in Leipzig ) is a German lawyer who worked as a judge until his retirement . Since the late 1970s he has also worked as a graphic designer , paper sculptor , book illustrator and author.

Life

His paper cuts and paper sculptures have attracted attention at exhibitions since the late 1970s. He transferred techniques from this area to his work with gold and silver .

He wrote literary texts e.g. For example, on the collages that appeared under the title Pull your shoes off and fly (1981) on 28 pages as “a great sensational picture of life and death in three sections” in 400 numbered copies. In addition to the interpretation of the texts by the actor Hans Korte on an enclosed record, the text, sound and collage were intended as a total work of art. His twelve-page The Secret of Eternal Youth. A sad but very true fairy tale accompanied the invitation to the opening of the 28th International Picture Book Exhibition in the Klingspor Museum in Offenbach am Main in 1983.

1987 received his self-published "Li und Gert Zeising, Amorbach" unpaginated paperback (48 pages) with the title Ich. About me. Repressed self. Second me. You. Self-disclosure. In the Middle Ages of modern times. a third prize from the Book Art Foundation .

For several years Zeising worked with the typographer Walter Plata , in whose Plata press in Hildesheim some of Zeising's most beautiful printed works were produced, including Take off your shoes and fly as well as parables and parodies (1984). Plata reinterpreted the secret of eternal youth in old Schwabach script; among other things for a special edition of the magazine Die deutsche Schrift .

In addition to fictional texts, Zeising also wrote essays on art history .
