Gertraude Steindl

Gertraude Steindl (* 1945 in Vienna ) is the Austrian President of Aktion Leben Österreich .

Live and act

The daughter of a displaced Sudeten German refugee couple from near Karlsbad was born in Vienna and lived there until her parents opened an electronics store in Hesse . She studied German and journalism at the University of Vienna , where she met her husband, the pedagogue Clemens Steindl , and got married in 1971. More years followed in Germany , where she worked for the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers in Bonn and helped found the screen newspaper ( Teletext ). In 1982 the family moved to Perchtoldsdorf with two children .

Action life

Steindl initially worked on an honorary basis for Aktion Leben from 1987, was employed as a press officer in 1992 and as general secretary from 2000 . In 2006 she was elected as Vice President of the initiative and in 2010 she was elected to succeed long-time President Paul Aiginger .
