Gertrud Heizmann

Gertrud Heizmann (born February 10, 1905 in Bern , † December 9, 1992 in Murten ) was a Swiss author for children and young people.

Life

Gertrud Heizmann was born as the daughter of a mechanic in Bern. After finishing secondary school , she completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller with Francke in Bern. In the following years she worked in Exeter , Pisa and Paris on her profession. In the French capital she met Erwin Heimann and followed him back to Switzerland, where the couple married in 1936. In 1937 the son Alexander Heimann was born, who was to make a name for himself as a crime writer.

From the late 1930s on, Gertrud Heizmann wrote many successful books for children and young people, some in German , some in Bernese dialect .
