Gertrud Schäfer (athlete)

Gertrud Schäfer (born October 26, 1944 in Marl , Westphalia ) is a former athlete specializing in the shot put and discus throw . Her greatest successes were the German championship in shot put in 1966 and participation in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico (tenth place). Later she was a successful trainer a. a. the world and European champion in heptathlon Sabine Braun , the third in the world championships in javelin throw Beate Peters and the shot putter Stephanie Storp .

The qualified sports teacher teaches at the Albert-Schweitzer- / Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Marl despite the pension entitlement.

• 1965 2nd at the German Championships in the shot put and 3rd in the discus throw
• 1966 German champion in the shot put (16.32 m) and 3rd in the discus throw
• 1966 6th at the European Championships in the shot put
• 1967 2nd at the German Championships in the shot put
• 1968 2nd at the German Championships in the shot put
• 1968 Participation in the Olympic Games in Mexico (10th place in the shot put)
