Gertrud Schäfer (born October 26, 1944 in Marl , Westphalia ) is a former athlete specializing in the shot put and discus throw . Her greatest successes were the German championship in shot put in 1966 and participation in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico (tenth place). Later she was a successful trainer a. a. the world and European champion in heptathlon Sabine Braun , the third in the world championships in javelin throw Beate Peters and the shot putter Stephanie Storp .

The qualified sports teacher teaches at the Albert-Schweitzer- / Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Marl despite the pension entitlement.
