Gertrud Schmalenbach

Gertrud Schmalenbach (* 1950 ) is a German lyricist for Christian children and pop music, director of stage productions and singer and choir director of Eden .

Life

Gertrud Schmalenbach, then Gertrud Schöbel, first became known through working with Hella Heizmann on her children's musicals such as The Wedding at Cana , The Writing on the Wall and The Odd Night . In addition to writing the lyrics, she also directed the stage shows, some of which toured across Germany. In 1991 she won the Gospel Broadcasting Authors' Competition for the age group 9-12 years with The Decision . This was followed by collaborations with Siegfried Fietz , with whom she wrote two musical radio plays about Bobby Hase , Helmut Jost , for whose series Christopher Kirchenmaus she also wrote the lyrics, and Dirk Schmalenbach , whom she married in 1992. A few years later, the couple founded the Eden Kids children's choir , which grew into the Eden Choir , which Gertrud Schmalenbach still directs today.

Gertrud Schmalenbach wrote the text for the anthem of the social association VdK in Hesse and Thuringia, which was premiered at the Hessentag 2005 with the composer Franz Lambert .

Gertrud and Dirk Schmalenbach live in Mengerskirchen today . She has two grown daughters.
