The Stellingen district school is a district school in the Hamburg district of Stellingen . It is also called the "school at the water tower".

history

School Lutterothstrasse 78-80, a Schumacher building

In 1979 the school moved from Lutterothstrasse to Brehmweg in Stellingen. A vocational school moved into the previous location at Lutterothstrasse 78/80. In the year of the move in 1979, the school became the Stellingen comprehensive school , which in 2010 became the Sportplatzring / Stellingen district school (or later the Stellingen district school) as part of the Hamburg school reform. Since the 2013/2014 school year, the school has been a bound all-day school with mandatory lessons from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location and architecture

As of 2019, the Stellingen district school had two locations, both in Hamburg-Stellingen:

  • Brehmweg 60 (main location, secondary level I)
  • Sportplatzring 73 (upper level center: secondary level II, to be demolished from 2020 in favor of the new development area "Neue Mitte Stellingen")

The school grounds on Brehmweg are between Högenstrasse and Hagenbeckstrasse. The school building on Brehmweg was inaugurated in 1974, the client was the housing company Neue Heimat Norddeutscher Städtebau GmbH . The construction and planning of the school building by Neue Heimat took place at the same time as the schools on Nydamer Weg in Rahlstedt and Wrangelstrasse in Eppendorf, all with hexagonal classroom floor plans.

The school grounds on Brehmweg, shared by the district school and primary school in Brehmweg, are 55,914 m² in size and have a large number of individual buildings. The original building stock from the 1970s includes specialist and class buildings (including a double-H type 68), a 3-field hall and a break hall and administration wing. In 2015 a 2-field hall (area: 1,262 m², costs: EUR 3.3 million) and a cafeteria (area: 705 m², costs: EUR 3.1 million) were built. Building A ("honeycomb building", typical of the Neue Heimat architecture) was demolished. In its place, a class house with 21 classes, coordination offices and community space was built.

School profile

The main catchment area of the district school in 2017/18 were Stellingen , Eimsbüttel , Eidelstedt and Lokstedt , and to a lesser extent Lurup and Niendorf. In the survey of the social index for Hamburg schools in 2011, a social index of 3 was calculated for the Stellingen district school on a scale from 1 (disadvantageous requirements of the student body, highest need for support) to 6 (best conditions, no need for support). In the 2016/17 school year, almost 54% of the students had a migration background , slightly above the average for Hamburg's district schools.
