Tales from the Mountains is a series of six television films broadcast on ZDF from 2010 to 2011. The one-hour episodes are shortened versions of the DVD series The Most Beautiful Love Films of All Time , which was published in 2009 as part of the “Bastei Collection " published.

The materials are based on proven elements of the publisher's own dime novels and were originally 90-minute film by the Austrian production company Couch Cinema in collaboration with ZDF Enterprises realized.

The films are cast with well-known actors including Xaver Hutter , Renate Krößner , Denise Zich , Horst Janson , Günther Schramm , Katerina Jacob , Timothy Peach , Krista Stadler , Ellen Schwiers and Olivia Pascal .

Each story focuses on the fate of a noble family. Most people get married, which is why the inventor and long-term presenter of the Musikantenstadl , Karl Moik , plays the role of pastor as the “link” between the six films .

The title and film music was composed by André Rieu .

The producer of the “Bastei Collection” is Ariane Metzner , who previously u. a. for Tele München , which worked for ZDF and Endemol . The film series is the kick-off production for their Innsbruck- based company Couchkino.
