Friedrich Rechsteiner

Friedrich Rechsteiner (born March 14, 1840 in Lindau ( Bavaria ); † December 30, 1916 in Munich ; resident in Rehetobel ) was a Swiss banker and consul from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Friedrich Rechsteiner was a son of Leonhard Rechsteiner and Regina Magdalena Schachenmayr. In 1871 he married Auguste Anna Therese Katharina Christ, daughter of Franz Christ. He attended schools in Lindau and St. Gallen . He then completed further training in Romanshorn and Bozen . In 1870 he founded the Fischer und Rechsteiner bank and freight forwarding business in Venice with branches all over Europe . He served on the supervisory board of various Venetian banks and industrial companies. From 1889 to 1901 he was consul for the USA and from 1890 to 1915 for the [German Empire] in Venice. He was president of the German Protestant Church. He founded and presided over the German School and the German Aid Association in Venice. He received numerous medals and awards .
