The Society for Council History Research e. V. is an association registered with the Augsburg district court , which has set itself the task of promoting scientific research in the field of council history . Members of the association are natural and legal persons.

Due to the common interests, there has been a project-related collaboration with the Roman Institute of the Görres Society for many years .

Purpose of the association

The association promotes the collection of scientific contributions and the organization of symposia (usually every two years) for the scientific staff involved in its research projects. The articles are published in the journal Annuarium Historiae Conciliorum and in the book series Council History . In addition, the society supports the publication of a lexicon of councils.

history

The association was founded in 1973. The founding members were Augsburg Bishop Josef Stimpfle ( Honorary Chairman ) as well as Helmut Reiner (Kaufbeuren), Bernd Potthast , Klaus Müller (Augsburg), Hedwig Wellano (Dillingen), Leo Weckbach (Augsburg), Marie-Luise Haindl (Augsburg), Josef Fitzek ( 1921–2013, Cologne), Simon Eding (1933–2012, Augsburg) and Walter Brandmüller (Augsburg).

Association organs

The board consists of the chairman Alois Konstantin Fürst zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg , the deputy chairman Petar Vrankic (Geltendorf-Wallenhausen), the treasurer Brigitte Martini (Epfach) and the secretary Hedwig Wellano (Dillingen).

The advisory board consists of Peter Bruns , Ansgar Frenken (Ulm), Johannes Grohe , Heinz Ohme (Berlin) and Thomas Prügl (Vienna).
