Lists on the subject |
The G29 is the medium-range sniper rifle of the Bundeswehr . It is manufactured by CG Haenel in Suhl and is intended to replace the G22 at the Special Forces Command and Special Forces Command of the Navy .
history
The order for the medium-range sniper rifle was put out to tender in 2014 by the Bundeswehr. What was required was a " medium-range sniper rifle , consisting of rifle, aiming and aiming aids, accessories and ammunition" as a repeating rifle for precise single shots in the 8.6 × 70 mm caliber, including target optics and accessories.
The specification called for "use in areas with climate categories A1-3, B1-3 and C0-2 according to STANAG 4370 without restriction of functionality" and " adaptability for the night vision attachment (NSV) 80 introduced into the Bundeswehr", a caliber change through exchange barrels was not part of the specification. In addition to Haenel, Unique Alpine was shortlisted with the TPG-3 A4. Haenel was awarded the contract in February 2016 and delivers the RS9 model as the G29 rifle . The first lot comprises 115 weapons.
technology
The G29 is a repeating rifle with bolt action in caliber mm 8.6 x 70th The cold - hammered, free-swinging precision barrel has a twist length of 254 mm (10 inches) and carries a combined muzzle brake / fire damper from B&T . The shutter opens / closes with a 60-degree turn and locks with 6 lugs arranged in two rows.
The lock housing is provided with a sand-colored Ilaflon® coating, similar to RAL 8000 , and carries a long NATO-STANAG-4694 rail on the top of the housing and four other short mounting rails on the sides of the shaft. For example, a biathlon-like carrying system can be installed here. The length-adjustable buttstock is foldable, which reduces the total length of the weapon to 990 mm. It has a height-adjustable butt plate and a height-adjustable cheek rest. There is an adjustable ground spur on the underside . The height-adjustable bipod is mounted on the skeletonized fore-end. The pistol grip is ergonomically shaped.
The trigger weight can be from 10 to 20 N set. The operational range against man targets is about 1500 m.
equipment
The G29 is equipped as standard with a Steiner Military riflescope (5–25 × 56) on an Era-Tac mount and an Aimpoint Micro-T2 as reflex and emergency sights. The accessories include a B&T monoblock silencer .
