Ghouls' n Ghosts (OT: Jap. 大魔界村 , Daimakaimura ) is one of Capcom developed Jump 'n' Run , the 1988 arcade game was released. It was later ported to various other systems. A revised mobile version for devices with Apple iOS was released on May 18, 2017 . The game is the successor to the game Ghosts 'n Goblins and the predecessor of the SNES game "Super Ghouls' n Ghosts".
Game flow
The gameplay is similar to that of Ghosts' n Goblins. The player controls the knight "Arthur" and must try to find the souls stolen by his adversary "Loki" through different levels and against a crowd of undead and demons. In this way the player will find various weapons and armor that will help him in this endeavor.
Innovations of the game
While the basic principle of the game has remained the same, there are some new skills that the player can now use in addition to jumping and shooting: The character is now able to shoot straight up into the air. In addition, the player can find treasure chests by jumping in certain parts of the level, which then rise from the ground. These can contain new weapons, armor, but also opponents.

Level
The game consists of six levels. At the end of each level, the player must defeat one of the bosses in order to move on to the next. The last level can only be entered after the player has completed the previous level for the second time and is also in possession of the "Psycho Cannon".

Ports
In the same year as the arcade version, ports for the C64 , Atari ST and the Amstrad CPC appeared . A year later the game was released for the Amiga , Sega Mega Drive and Sinclair ZX Spectrum . In 1990 ports to Sega Master System and NEC PC Engine as well as SuperGrafx followed . Later a version appeared for the Japanese Sega Saturn as part of the Capcom Generations 2: Chronicles of Arthur.
successor
In 1992 "Super Ghouls' n Ghosts" was released as the third part of the series for the SNES , which in turn was ported to the Game Boy Advance in 2002 and is also included in Capcom Generations 2.
