Giampaolo Calanchini (born February 4, 1937 in Ferrara , † March 19, 2007 in Bologna ) was an Italian saber fencer .
successes
Giampaolo Calanchini became vice world champion with the team in Paris in 1965 . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 1960 he was eliminated in Rome with the Italian team in the semi-finals against Hungary 6-9. In the battle for third place, he prevailed against the United States 9: 6 together with Wladimiro Calarese , Pierluigi Chicca , Roberto Ferrari and Mario Ravagnan and won the bronze medal. At the Olympic Games in 1964 , he and the team entered the battle for the gold medal, unbeaten, in which they were defeated by the Soviet team 6: 9. He won silver with Cesare Salvadori , Wladimiro Calarese, Pierluigi Chicca and Mario Ravagnan.
