Giampaolo Crepaldi (born September 29, 1947 in Pettorazza Grimani , Province of Rovigo , Italy ) is Bishop of Trieste .

Life

Giampaolo Crepaldi received on 17 July 1971, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then worked as a vicar in Villadose , Villanova del Ghebbo and Castelmassa . Crepaldi acquired in 1975 at the University of Bologna , the licentiate in philosophy and in 1977 at the University of Padua , the diploma in philosophy. In 1981 he was at the Pontifical Urban University in the subject Catholic Theology doctorate .

In 1977 Giampaolo Crepaldi became the delegate for social pastoral care in the Adria-Rovigo diocese and director of the diocesan center for education and training. From 1985 to 1986 he worked as a pastor in Cambio. In 1986 Crepaldi became director of the Office for Social Problems and Labor at the Italian Bishops' Conference . In 1994 he was appointed Undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace . Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on August 9, 1995 .

On March 3, 2001, John Paul II appointed him Titular Archbishop of Bisarcio and Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. The episcopal ordination donated him John Paul II on 19 March of the same year. St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were Cardinal State Secretary Angelo Sodano and Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re . On July 4th, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . Bishop of Trieste and bestowed on him the personal title of Archbishop . The inauguration took place on October 4th of the same year.

In connection with the wedding of two homosexual couples in May 2015, Crepaldi called the "attacks on marriage as a union of man and woman" a "suicide for humanity".

He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Pontifical Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP) .
