Gianni Demadonna

Gianni Demadonna (born June 14, 1954 ) is an Italian athletics manager and former long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Between 1982 and 1987 Demadonna took part in four World Cross Country Championships with 44th place at his first start as the best place. In 1983 he won the Cross di Cossato and 1986 the Cross della Vallgarina . His greatest success on the track was winning the Italian championship in the 10,000 meter run in 1984.

He also collected numerous victories in road races , including three at the Giro al Sas (1980, 1983 and 1985) and six at the Giro Podistico di Rovereto (1979 and 1981-1985). He also finished second in the New York City Marathon in 1987 with a personal best of 2:11:53 hours behind the Kenyan Ibrahim Hussein .

Career as a manager

Demadonna's agency, Demadonna Athletics Promotions , based in Trento, looks after numerous top athletes, including mainly East African medium and long-distance runners. The most famous athletes of the racing team include the Olympic champion Wilfred Bungei , the world record holder Mary Jepkosgei Keitany and the world champions Yusuf Saad Kamel , Jaouad Gharib and Dorcus Inzikuru . Many of the African athletes spend part of their season in Trento. In addition, Demadonna has been running a training camp in Iten, Kenya, under the direction of Gabriele Nicola, since 2007 .

In addition, Demadonna Athletics Promotions supports the organizers of the Turin Marathon and the BOclassic in signing top runners and is the organizer of the Giro al Sas.
