Gilles Maignan (born July 30, 1968 in Argenteuil ) is a former French professional cyclist who was particularly successful in the time trial .

biography

Gilles Maignan began his professional career in 1995 with the Mutuelle de Seine-et-Marne team after having been an amateur for six years . He celebrated his greatest successes at the end of the 1990s for Team Casino and its successor, AG2R Prévoyance . He was the French time trial champion twice in a row in 1998 and 1999 , qualifying him for the UCI road world championships. In 1998 he only finished 27th in the time trial of the World Championships, in 1999 he finished in a respectable seventh place. In 2000 he was the only Frenchman to win the Tour Down Under .

In 2002 Maignan ended his career. He took part in the Tour de France four times and reached the finish in Paris three times . Maignan now works for the Amaury Sport Organization .
