Ginevra Elkann

Ginevra Elkann (born September 24, 1979 in London , England ) is an Italian film director .

Life

Elkann is the granddaughter of Gianni Agnelli and one of the heirs to his fortune. Her mother is the daughter Agnellis Margherita, her father is the French-Italian author Alain Elkann . She was raised in the Catholic faith and grew up in England , France and Brazil . The paternal, Jewish line of descent is that of the Italian banker and entrepreneur Ettore Ovazza from the Turin banking family of the same name. In 2009 she married Count Giovanni Gaetani dell'Aquila d'Aragona in Marrakech . The couple have two sons and a daughter.

Elkann's brother John Elkann is the chairman of the FIAT group , her brother Lapo runs his own company.

In 1998 Elkann was assistant director working on Bernardo Bertolucci's film L'assedio (German: Shandurai and the piano player ) and a year later she assisted in the shooting of Anthony Minghella's film The Talented Mr. Ripley . She then studied directing at the London Film School . In 2005, her graduation film, a nine-minute short film, Vado a messa (I'm going to mass) was shown at the Cinema Schools special show during the 62nd Venice International Film Festival .

Elkann is president of the Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli in Lingotto in Turin , which builds on her grandparents' art collection. She also heads the film production companies Asmara and Good Films .
