John Elkann
John Jacob Philip Elkann (born April 1, 1976 in New York , USA ) is an Italian manager and member of the Agnelli family , whose business he is in a leading position. He is the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles , Ferrari and Exor , the investment company that manages the family's wealth.
Life
John Elkann was born in New York . He is the son of Margherita Agnelli and the French publicist Alain Elkann and grandson of Gianni Agnelli . His siblings include Lapo , entrepreneur and fashion designer , and Ginevra , film director.
After his parents divorced in 1981, he spent his childhood with his mother between the UK , France and Brazil . He graduated from high school in 1994 at the Lycée Victor-Duruy in Paris , and in 2000 he completed his studies in industrial engineering at the Turin University of Politecnico di Torino .
After the son of Gianni Agnelli's brother Umberto , Giovanni Alberto Agnelli, died of a rare form of cancer in 1997 at the age of only 33 , John Elkann was chosen in his place as the future head of the Agnelli clan and appointed to the Fiat Group's supervisory board . While still a student, he worked in various Fiat companies, including in Great Britain, Poland and France.
John Elkann started his professional career in 2001 at General Electric , where he worked as a member of the Corporate Audit Staff in Asia , the USA and Europe . From 2003 he worked for the investment company IFIL on the realignment of the Fiat group . After the death of his uncle Umberto in 2004, he became Vice President of Fiat under the new President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo . In February 2006 John Elkann was appointed Vice President of the IFIL and in April 2007 he became President of the Istituto Finanziario Industriale (IFI).
On April 20, 2010, John Elkann became President of the Fiat Board of Directors, succeeding Luca di Montezemolo .
From June 11th to 14th, 2015 he took part in the 63rd Bilderberg Conference in Telfs-Buchen , Austria .
On July 21, 2018, he was appointed as the successor to Sergio Marchionne as the new Ferrari President.
Private
John Elkann has been married to Lavinia Borromeo since 2004 . The two have two sons in common.
