Gino Clavuot , alias Snook , spelling SNOOK (born April 20, 1985 in Scuol , pronunciation [ ˌd͡ʒi: nɔ klɐˈvu̯ɔt ]) is a Swiss rapper with Brazilian roots.

Snook works mainly in Romansh ( Vallader ) and Swiss German , but depending on the topic also in English, Italian, Spanish, German and other Western European languages. Mother tongue and origin are important artistic subjects for him.

Life

Gino Clavuot grew up in Tarasp and Scuol in the Swiss Lower Engadine . In accordance with local conditions, bilingual in Romansh and German.

Gino Clavuot lives and works in Zurich . He is currently studying economics at the University of Zurich . Trained as a hotelier and cook, he works as a food photographer and event organizer at the Zurich Opera House.

Artistic development

He made his first experiences with rap in 1999 at high school in Ftan with two young rappers from Lavin . Later the group Cammillionerz emerged , which is no longer active today.

According to initial investments in foreign productions Snook in 2005 produced his first work of resistance .

The second in-house production Ufstand (dialect for uprising ) appeared in 2007. It was available as a free download and resulted in an impressive 20,000 downloads.

In 2009 the rough concept for the third own CD Rapquotient was created , new with Rezia as the singer, Dj Flamin Fingaz and the rapper Clerence , partly in collaboration with Liricas Analas , with Andri from the Breitbild group and Bandit from the Luut & Tüütli group . The work was finally released in 2011. For the first time, video clips appeared parallel to the CD , namely for the songs Nomol So Kli (dialect for once again so small ), Lang gsuacht (dialect for Lange wanted ) and No fain festa (Romansh for we celebrate ).

On the 2013 CD Rich O Pover (Romansh for rich or poor ), the Bündner Andri, LIV, C-Beat , Jusht , Paco Raps and Simeon Tsoutsaios are involved.

Gino Clavuot strives for a "positive social criticism" in his songs , his lyrics want to spread optimism. Musically, the work can be assigned to classic hip-hop . It should provide entertainment, but also stimulate thought. Snook aims at a mixed audience.

When performing live, the group currently consists of Snook, Clerence, Rezia and Dj Flamin Fingaz (as of 2014).
