Giordano Bruno Guerri (born December 21, 1950 in Monticiano ) is an Italian writer, journalist and historian.

Life

After finishing school in Bollate near Milan, Guerri studied Modern Literature at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. At the beginning of his studies he worked as a proofreader for the Milanese publisher Garzanti, first as a freelancer and then until 1980 as an employee. In 1974 he finished his studies with a thesis on Giuseppe Bottai .

In 1985 he was appointed editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine La Storia Illustrata , the sales of which he was able to increase from 60,000 to 110,000 per issue in 15 months. In 1986 he became the publishing director at Mondadori . From 1989 to 1991 he was editor-in-chief of the monthly Chorus . In 1995 he went to Rome, where he worked as a journalist for the RAI . In 2004 he took over the management of the Milan daily L'Indipendente .

Guerri taught contemporary history at the Università Guglielmo Marconi in Rome. He also regularly taught the same subject in the political science faculties of the Universities of Salerno, Madrid, Geneva, Rio de Janeiro and Columbia University in New York. Since 2008 he has been President of the Vittoriale degli italiani Foundation .

In 1976 Feltrinelli published his first publication, his diploma thesis with the title Giuseppe Bottai, un fascista critico . In 2010 his book Il Sangue del Sud - Antistoria del Risorgimento e del Brigantaggio , a critical account of the unification of Italy, was published.
