Giovanni Battista Pallavicino (* 1480 in Genoa , † August 13, 1524 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

He came from a Genoese patrician family and was the son of Cipriano Pallavicino and his wife Bianca Gattilusi. His uncle, who also took on the upbringing of the young Giovanni Battista, was Cardinal Antonio Gentile Pallavicino . He later studied law and literature and obtained a doctorate degree in law from the University of Padua . He was dean at the cathedral chapter in Orense and commendatabab of various monasteries.

Bishop of Cavaillon in France since November 22, 1507 , Pope Leo X elevated him to cardinal on July 1, 1517 and made him cardinal priest of the titular church of Sant'Apollinare alle Terme Neroniane-Alessandrine on July 6, 1517 . As a cardinal he was a participant in the conclave 1521–1522 , which Hadrian VI. elected to the Pope. He also took part in the conclave of 1523 , from which Clement VII emerged as Pope.

He died in Rome on August 13, 1524 and was buried in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo .
