Giovanni Leone Reggio (born December 12, 1888 in Genoa , † December 22, 1972 in Genoa ) was an Italian sailor .

successes

Giovanni Reggio, who sailed for the Lega Italiana Navale Genova , took tenth place in his Olympic debut in Amsterdam in 1928 in the 6-meter class as the skipper of the Twins II . In 1936 he became Olympic champion in the 8-meter class at the Berlin Games . He was the skipper of the Italia , which won one of the seven races and, with 55 points, the regatta taking place in the Olympic harbor in Düsternbrook in Kiel , just ahead of the Silja from Norway and the Germania III from the German Empire with 53 points each. Reggio's crew included Bruno Bianchi , Luigi De Manincor , Domenico Mordini , Enrico Poggi and Luigi Poggi . At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 Reggio started again in the 6-meter class. With the Ciocca II , the regatta finished in eighth place as skipper.

His son Pietro Reggio was also a sailor and took part in two Olympic Games. With him and other sailors, Reggio won several national championships.
