Giovanni Scognamillo

Giovanni Scognamillo (born April 25, 1929 in Istanbul , † October 8, 2016 in Başakşehir ) was a Turkish film critic and actor who belonged to the Levantine community .

Life

Scognamillo was born into a family of Italian - Greek origin; his father Leone was the son of an immigrant from Naples , and his mother came from the Genoese settlers from Tinos . Since his father manager of the cinema theater Elhamra Sineması of Beyoğlu was Giovanni has already been introduced early in the world of cinema. After graduating from Liceo Italiano high school , he started writing Italian language cinema articles for various media . By 1961 his career began in the Turkish language press .

Scognamillo was the author of several books on the history of cinema, as well as various subjects such as sorcery and divination. In 2014 he worked as a lecturer on Turkish film at Bahçeşehir University . Furthermore, he also had some appearances as an actor in Turkish film productions.
