action

The cheerleading team "East High Jets" led by Brooke have been the undefeated winners of the Cheer Camp Nationals for three years, but the "West High Sharks" led by Carson are competing with them. Both teams don't like each other and that leads to provocations and "cheer battles".

As soon as he arrives at the camp, the ambitious leader Carson wants to rehearse the choreography immediately . Carson and Brooke have a little argument in the lobby. The Sharks also meet Brooke and Chelsea while rehearsing by the pool. Later in the park, Carson meets the likeable boy Penn, with whom she falls head over heels in love. At first, however, she does not know that he is a cheerleader for the Jets and he also does not know that she is a cheerleader on the opposing team. When Brooke learns that Carson is pleasing Penn, she tries everything to make the relationship worse, but Penn doesn't care that Carson is captain of the Sharks. At the opening ceremony, Carson learns that Penn is with the Jets. At the pool there is a cheer battle between the two teams, from which the Sharks emerge as winners. Finally, Brooke kisses Penn to make Carson jealous. Carson declines all calls from Penn. While eating, the Sharks get the Spirit Stick from Pepper after the Jets had it. The Spirit Stick is, so to speak, a lucky charm and the team that loses or misplaces the Spirit Stick is said to be subject to a curse that brings bad luck, according to legends.

Just then, when Carson is supposed to take care of the stick, Penn persuades her to go out with him. At this point, the Spirit Stick disappears and Carson suspects that the Jets stole it so their team would be cursed. Penn also blames her, claiming that it was just a diversionary maneuver . In her anger, she reveals Penn's secret to his team and the relationship between the two is very bad. Following the disappearance of the Spirit Stick, things don't go so well for the team until everyone believes they are really cursed. When everyone has had enough of their bad luck, they decide to have a cheer ritual. Shortly afterwards they meet at midnight and want to blame the thieves of the staff. In the further course of the evening there was another cheer duel between the Sharks and the Jets, in which several dancers were injured and disqualified. Since neither team has a full number of dancers to compete in the Nationals, both teams should go home. The Sharks no longer believe that the jets stole the spirit stick, so they decide shortly before departure that the teams will work together to win the "Flamingos". They agree to call themselves "Shets" in the sense of the union.

Later on there is another argument during rehearsals, but Aeysha agrees with Carson that she and Brooke no longer argue. Secrets are also revealed, e.g. For example, that Ruben is not gay at all and that Sarah is really fun cheerleading and that Carson is scared. Penn also confesses to his father that he is not in a martial arts camp, but in a cheerleading camp. The two cheerleader captains get on better and better and later they decide to take a close look at the flamingos. They find that the flamingos have improved a lot and Carson is now afraid that they will lose to the flamingos so he tries to think of an amazing move. In doing so, she comes across the roller coaster “the double kite” and incorporates a move into her choreography that is similar to the movement of the roller coaster. During the Nationals, Carson again becomes scared that they will lose to the flamingos because she thinks the curse of the Spirit Stick is still on them. Brooke encourages her and shortly afterwards they appear.

The “Prairiedogs” take third place, the “Flamingos” take second and the “Shets” get the trophy for first place. With it the Shets can go on a world tour . At the end of the film, it turns out that Vance Voorhees stole the Spirit Stick and Penn and Carson kiss.
