Cassandra Lynn "Cassie" Scerbo (born March 30, 1990 on Long Island , New York ) is an American actress , singer and dancer .

life and career

Scerbo was born and raised on Long Island , New York , in the spring of 1990 , before moving with her family to Parkland , Florida . Even in her childhood, tomboy-like behavior could be observed in the young actress, who is now aspiring. She played soccer actively between the ages of six and thirteen, had a brown taekwondo belt at a young age and took part in a bungee jump for the first time at the age of ten . Furthermore, the motorsport enthusiast Scerbo occasionally works as a stunt woman . To reduce stress, she has been boxing since she was a teenager and works together with a personal trainer.

Scerbo entered the field of acting when she was a teenager, after being successful as a singer and dancer before and later at the same time. She has performed as a member of the internationally successful dance group Hip Hop Kidz since she was a child and took part in the 2002 World Hip Hop Dance Championship (including her brother, who is almost five years older) , in the world championship in hip-hop dance. In the years that followed, Scerbo, who attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in her new home, Parkland, continued to be internationally active in hip-hop dance and with the dance group. At this Scerbo also appeared with the future professional dancer Brandon Bryant , who was seen in an episode of Glee in 2010.

She had her first well-known film appearance in 2005 with a rather insignificant role in Hitters Anonymous . At that time she was already a member of the five-member girl group Slumber Party Girls , for which she had been selected from over a thousand applicants singing aloud. In October 2006 the band released their debut album Dance Revolution and was then present in all 26 episodes of the television series of the same name , in which they appeared with all of their songs. Shortly before the release of their album, the Slumber Party Girls performed every weekend from September 16, 2006 as hosts of the KOL Secret Slumber Party on CBS . A few months after the release of their debut album, the band split. Only Scerbo's Asian-born bandmate Mallory Low continued to appear as a well-known actress and solo singer.

Scerbo was one of the finalists for the role of Hannah Montana in the television series of the same name at the time . In the end, she had to admit defeat to the younger Miley Cyrus , who received the role and through this celebrated worldwide success and won countless awards. In 2007 Scerbo appeared in the pilot episode Airwin! , a spin-off from Zack & Cody , a spin-off from Hotel Zack & Cody . The pilot produced in the period from the end of 2006 to February 2007 was not accepted by the Disney Channel , so the production of a series failed.

From 2007 Scerbo was seen more often in film productions. While she still played a minor role in Natural Born Komics , she was in Girls United: Everything to Win alongside Ashley Benson in one of the leading roles. In the film, in which she played a cheerleader, she also benefited from her hip-hop training. Due to her childhood experience in soccer, where she mostly played in offensive positions, she got the role of Tiffany in Soccer Mom the following year . In 2009 she worked again with Ashley Benson on the film Mother Goose Parade and appeared in an episode of CSI: Miami . From 2009 to 2012 she was a leading actress in the youth drama series Make It or Break It . She played the role of gymnast Lauren Tanner , whose greatest dream is to participate in the Olympics . She also made a guest appearance in 2010 on an episode of 10 Things I Hate About You . In the film Coach , published in 2010, she was initially also earmarked for a role. In 2011 four films came out with Not Another Not Another Movie , Not Today , Bench Seat and A Holiday Heist , in which Scerbo was involved as an actress.
