Giuseppe Cesare Abba (born October 6, 1838 in Cairo Montenotte near Savona , † November 6, 1910 in Brescia ) was an Italian writer and freedom fighter .

Life

Abba enrolled at the Art Academy in Genoa after graduating from high school , but dropped out in 1859 to volunteer in the Piedmontese army in the second Italian war of independence and in Giuseppe Garibaldi's procession of a thousand in 1860 . After the unification of Italy , he studied at the University of Pisa and wrote some of his literary works. In 1866 he fought with Garibaldi's volunteers in the battle of Bezzecca again against the Austrians. He received a high award for his bravery in battle . In the following years he worked as the mayor of his hometown and above all as a writer.

In 1910 he was appointed senator , but Abba died in Brescia that same year.
