Giuseppe Di Grande
Giuseppe Di Grande (born September 7, 1973 in Syracuse ) is a former Italian cyclist .
In 1995 Giuseppe Di Grande won the Baby Giro , the U23 edition of the Giro d'Italia . The following year he became a professional at Mapei . In 1997 he secured a stage win at the Tour de Romandie . At the Giro d'Italia shortly afterwards, Di Grande won the twelfth stage and finished in seventh place in the overall standings. At the 1998 Tour de France he placed third in the junior competition for the white jersey behind Jan Ullrich and the winner of the spotted jersey , Christophe Rinero . In 2007 Di Grande ended his active career with the Professional Continental Team Miche .
In 2001, Di Grande was banned for six months after the Giro d'Italia for possessing prohibited substances , and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with probation and a fine of 12,000 euros in a criminal trial. He had to pay another 10,000 euros to the Olympic Committee of Italy (CONI).
