Giuseppe Nazzaro OFM (born December 22, 1937 in San Potito Ultra ; † October 26, 2015 ) was an Italian religious and apostolic vicar of Aleppo .

Life

Giuseppe Nazzaro joined the order of the Franciscans , made his profession on December 18, 1960 and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1965 . From 1992 to 1998 he was Custodian of the Custody of the Holy Land .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 21, 2002 Vicar Apostolic of Aleppo and Titular Bishop of Forma . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year; Co-consecrators were Leonardo Sandri , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Antonio Maria Vegliò , Secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches .

On April 15, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
