Glashütte is a district of St. Märgen in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district .

geography

The small village is located in the deeply cut valley of the Glaserbach, which flows into the Wilde Gutach at Dreistegen, near the Hexenlochmühle . There the district of St.Märgen-Glashütte borders on the districts of Emmendingen and Schwarzwald-Baar . Due to the difficult topographical situation, the district has its own sewage disposal system with the latest technical standards. From an economic point of view, a watch manufacture and a tourism company are of particular importance. Otherwise, most residents are forced to commute to surrounding communities and cities.

history

In 1426 the place was mentioned for the first time as the gůt in the glass huts and was granted by the monastery of St. Peter as an inheritance . Before that, there was a glassmaking shop on site, but it was in operation in the 15th and 16th centuries. Century was stopped because of the forest desolation. From 1683 it was operated again to some extent before it was discontinued in 1727. After the secularization , Glashütte came to the Freiburg Land and District Office .

Together with the Simonswald district of Wildgutach , Glashütte formed the independent community Hinterstraß for a long time , which was first mentioned in 1446 and whose name refers to the location on the road to Urach . In 1936 it was incorporated into St. Märgen.

coat of arms

As a result of the incorporation, Glashütte no longer has its own coat of arms. As the municipality of Hinterstraß, however, it had a split coat of arms, which bore the Sickinger balls on the left and the crossed keys of the St. Peter monastery on the right.
