At the Glashütter Hof there was a glassworks from around 1747 to 1754 , then an agricultural operation. The first inn existed from 1900. Today's café was opened in 1929 and has been run by the Denne family (now Dumont) since 1963. A well room served the Glashütterhof until it was connected to the public water supply.

The pond is around three hectares in size, around 460 m long and up to around 106 m wide. The lake was created by damming the Kleberbach , a tributary of the Rohrbach . Furthermore, the linden spring , which was bricked up in 1967 and provided with a Kneipp water treading basin, and a few smaller springs fill the pond. The Glashütter pond over a drained monk work flow mentioned.

When construction began in 1968, the community was supported by the US Army and the German Armed Forces . Due to the loss of water in cavities from the activities of the Saarbergwerke , the pond had to be drained again shortly after it was dammed in April 1969 and the cavities had to be filled with concrete by the well drilling company Jacob & Sons.

Above the pond is the Kleberbachtal nature reserve, below the Im Glashüttental / Rohrbachtal nature reserve was declared by ordinance of November 5, 1990. The valley lies in the natural area of St. Ingberter Senke .

In 1996 the water level had to be lowered by about 30 cm because the volume of the pond with 144,000 cubic meters of water in DIN 19700 exceeded the size of a pond by 10,000 cubic meters; otherwise the city of St. Ingbert would have had to meet stricter safety regulations for a dam .

The pond is heavily frequented by visitors who use the surrounding circular path. It states inter alia with carp occupied sea fishing, a fishing hut, a shelter, a barbecue area and also for nudism used lawn. The lake is a habitat for the common toad . Unknown perpetrators killed a three-digit number of amphibians by dousing them with salt in late March 2012 . The North American snapping turtle also occurs in the lake . Swimming is prohibited in the lake.
