Rupert Glawitsch

Rupert Glawitsch (born December 2, 1907 in Ljubljana , Austria-Hungary , † April 16, 1981 in Hamburg , Germany ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).

Rupert Glawitsch first completed a degree in electrical engineering before starting a singing career as a tenor in Gablonz an der Neisse (today Jablonec nad Nisou), Hamburg and Bremerhaven .

From 1939 he sang operas and operetta parts, art songs and hits at the Reichssender Hamburg and after the Second World War at NWDR and NDR . He had his best roles in the operetta The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss , the Waltz Dream by Oscar Straus and Vogelhändler by Carl Zeller .

Rupert Glawitsch was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg, grid square O 12 (north of Cordesallee below Cordesbrunnen ).
