Glen Anthony Rice Jr. (born January 1, 1991 in Miami , Florida ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract in the NBA D-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers . His points average in the NBA was 2.9 in the 2013-2014 season. He played a total of eleven games.
Rice Jr. is the son of former NBA player Glen Rice .
Career
High school
Rice played at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia and was named High School Basketball Player of the Year in 2008. In 2009, he was named one of the 35th Best High School Shooting Guards in the United States by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN .
college
From 2009 to 2012, Rice played for Georgia Tech College . In his first season as a freshman , however, he got very little time. In his sophomore season he was on the grid in 23 of 31 games. He was also second on his team in the categories of game minutes, points, rebounds, assists and steals. He scored a total of three double doubles .
Professional career
Rice was drafted 35th in the 2013 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and transferred to the Washington Wizards that same evening . In the 2012/13 season he played in the D-League for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers , who had previously selected him in the D-League draft. In 2013 Rice played for the Wizards and for their D-League team, Iowa Energy . On January 7, 2015, he was released from the Wizards. Since January 12, 2015 he is back under contract with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He played for the Houston Rockets in the 2015 NBA Summer League .
successes
With the Rio Grande Valley Vipers he won the D-League championship in 2013 and was elected to the D-League All-Rookie Second Team.
His best game to date was on July 19, 2014 in an NBA Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs . He scored 36 points and got 11 rebounds, he forced the third extension with a three-point throw. The game ended after 3 extra times 95:94 for Washington. In the Summer League 2014, his point average was 25.2 points per game. He was elected MVP .

He is the son of ex-basketball player and NBA All-Star Glen Rice . Glen Rice became NBA champions with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1999/00 season . Rice Jr. has a younger brother, G'mitri Rice.
