Glenn Kaiser (* 21st January 1953 in Beaver Dam , Wisconsin ) is an American Christian Blues - R & B - and blues rock - guitarist , singer-songwriter and pastor . Kaiser became known with the Resurrection Band and founded the Glenn Kaiser Band in 1999 . In addition to electric and acoustic guitar, he plays lap steel guitar and harmonica .

life and career

Glenn Kaiser was born the youngest of three children. His parents separated when he was nine years old. At the age of twelve he became active in the Milwaukee music scene . Kaiser belonged to a total of twelve different groups until he was nineteen years old; among them were two bands led by him.

Glenn Kaiser grew up a Lutheran experimenting with drugs before joining the revival movement around his eighteenth birthday . “ Nothing else gave me so much happiness or sense of purpose until I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and become absolute Lord of my life. ”( Glenn Kaiser , German:“ Nothing gave me so much joy and determination as my request to Jesus Christ to redeem me and be my Lord ”)

Kaiser joined the Jesus People in Milwaukee, later in Jesus People USA renamed. In their USA Traveling Team he met his future wife Wendi Herrin. Her brother, John Herrin Jr., and Glenn Kaiser joined the Jesus People pastoral team before they were 25 years old. The Jesus People USA are the organizers of the Cornerstone Festival , at which Glenn Kaiser performed repeatedly with various groups.

Glenn Kaiser's most successful and best-known group is the Resurrection Band, founded in 1971, which originally traveled through the United States under the name Charity as part of the USA Traveling Team of the Jesus People. In the spring of 1972 the group renamed itself the Resurrection Band and shortly thereafter relocated its activities to Chicago. Kaiser married Wendi Herrin in June 1972, who was also a member of the Resurrection Band . Wendi and Glenn Kaiser have four children together.

In 1994, Glenn Kaiser published the book The Responsibility of the Christian Musician .

The Resurrection Band disbanded in 2000 after nearly thirty years. Shortly before, Kaiser founded the Glenn Kaiser Band as a blues-rock trio in 1999 together with Roy Montroy and Ed Bialach . Performances have taken the group to Europe several times, including Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands in 2012. In 2008 the former Resurrection Band performed again for the 25th anniversary of the Cornerstone Festival.

Glenn Kaiser plays the guitar models Fender Stratocaster , Epiphone Sheraton and Gibson Les Paul .
