The Glock 19 is a semi-automatic pistol in the caliber of 9 × 19 mm of the Austrian company Glock . It is the compact version of the Glock 17 . The barrel and sight are 12 mm shorter, the grip 11 mm shorter than the Glock 17. The magazine capacity is specified by the manufacturer as 15 cartridges. That's two cartridges less than the full-size version. When empty, the Compact differs from its full-size counterpart by 30 grams.

Locking
The locking system of the Glock pistol 17 and 19 is a further development of the locking system of the Colt M1911 developed by John Moses Browning ; in contrast to this, the rear block-shaped barrel of the Glock locks directly in the ejection window of the breech slide .
Reloading
After the shot, the barrel and slide run back together until the pressure has dropped. As with the locking system of the Colt M1911 developed by John Moses Browning , the rear end of the barrel is tilted to unlock. With the Glock pistol, this is done by a rod-shaped control link located diagonally below the barrel, directly between the barrel and a corresponding surface on the frame.
variants
Like other Glock models, the Glock 19 is also available as a Glock 19C (Compensator). The compensator is an integral part of the weapon construction. Due to the compensator bores eroded in the barrel and the extension of these bores through the slide, part of the gases that expand when the shot is fired is diverted upwards, which reduces the rifling of the weapon as part of the recoil. The disadvantage of the compensator constructions is that the gunner can be blinded by the muzzle flash, which is partly directed upwards - especially in night situations - and thus the use by the military, police etc. is only possible to a limited extent.
There are always various special models such. B. the model OD Green, in which the handle is kept in olive green, but the locking piece is black as usual.
The fifth generation is currently on the market. Here the grip was again designed as with Gen 1 and Gen 2 without finger grooves, since the finger grooves of the Gen3 and Gen 4 weapons can be quite annoying for large hands. This is also the first generation with a slide catch lever on both sides.
Since 2018 also available as the Glock 19X version, this is a hybrid with the compact slide of the Glock 19 and a full-size handle of the Glock 17.
